Abstract
Over the years, we have seen great progress in promoting people¡¯s health by developing evidence-based interventions using theory- and evidence-based methods and practical applications to change people¡¯s behaviors (Fernandez et al., 2019a). Nevertheless, the Achilles¡¯ heel in this process lies in long-term implementation. Intervention developers tend to concentrate primarily on the theory- and data-driven aspects of their interventions, yielding positive outcomes in controlled experimental evaluations. However, they often overlook the systematical development of effective strategies for future large-scale implementation or under the different environments. This could be the reason why the field of implementation science has recently received great attentions in nursing sciences (Boehm, Stolldorf, & Jeffery, 2020). In this editorial, we will highlight ¡®Implementation Mapping¡¯ as a valuable tool to better equip intervention developers for sustained, long-term implementation (Fernandez et al., 2019b), and advocate the use of Implementation Mapping in nursing researches.
